- Care with healing the body after birth & any type of recovery that goes along with that
- Helping the birth parent get sleep to aid in recovery. This is my priority. This can happen with or without baby present. They can be in my capable hands if that is the preference.
- Breastfeeding support. If you have chosen to breastfeed, I can observe, & make suggestions to help with success & offer resources such as Lactation Consultants or La Leche League or medical intervention if necessary. If you are bottle feeding, I can prepare bottles and offer feeding support. I am happy to clean, sanitize and assemble bottles.
- Information + referrals for the local community. Doulas spent a large part of their time on this aspect. It is my pleasure to be able to assist you in this matter to the best of my ability. If I do not have a resource, you can be assured that I will find it.
- Non-judgmental listening & support is key to helping with adjusting and recovering after childbirth. Otherwise known as the other side of the "Birth Wall"
- Telling your birth story & any concerns you may are a large part of your growth as a new parent. I will listen to all you have to say with an open heart. I am a safe place to talk about your feelings, concerns, frustrations and also your victories. A couple of hours’ sleep, a shower or a successful feed are all to be celebrated!
- Watching baby for short errands, exercise classes, doctor appts etc. Sometimes you will just need to leave the house and that is okay. Having your baby in good hands makes these situations easier.
